Step into another world at Andrew Federowsky’s Gold Coast property

It’s bright, bold and not for the faint-hearted.

Step inside Andrew Federowsky’s home and feel like you’re in another world.

The Gold Coast heavy hitter, who co-founded the world’s largest trade exchange business Bartercard, has put his Clear Island Waters home up for sale.

Mr Federowsky and wife Nicky paid $1.035m in 2001 for the property and have enjoyed hosting some of the biggest stars of the IndyCar racing industry over the years.

“My business sponsored Miss Indy and the IndyCar Grand Prix so over the years I became good friends with a lot of team owners and drivers,” he said.

“Plus you have a lot of famous people who are often part owners of IndyCar teams.

“We had plenty of those people around.”

Mr Federowsky said he and Nicky had spent more than $1.2m over the years injecting their own personalities into the home.

The end result will have you thinking you’re in Florida’s Miami Beach.

“I really have to credit my wife for the styling,” he said.

“She’s a fashion designer and an artist and she has an eye for it.”

The house has had a fresh facelift.

The foyer features a giant Alice in Wonderland chair that leads guests into an open-plan living room with a wide waterfront view.

Here, a round zebra couch surrounds a montage of coloured coffee tables from the US.

While most of Andrew’s homewares are sourced overseas, the custom-made lounge and Alice in Wonderland chair was constructed by Southport-based designer James Benigno.

The view looks out over the lake and towards Surfers Paradise.

The four-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion includes a blue kitchen as well as a six-car garage and man cave covered wall-to-wall in Andrew’s collection of racing memorabilia.

The latest transformation is the facade of the house, which has been freshly rendered and painted white.

“It’s just been rendered to really get with the times,” he said.

While he had many favourite spots in the home, Mr Federowsky said it was the company that he enjoyed most.

“I love cars so the six-car garage is definitely a nice spot but that’s not where you hang out,” he said.

“For me it’s who you’re with and who you’re entertaining.

“In our media room we’ve had plenty of friends over watching the footy.

“Then we’ve got the family area where you can have dinner parties around the table with the zebra chairs. It all depends on what you’re doing.

“Outside there’s large furniture under the outdoor entertaining area overlooking the pool.

“You can start at lunch and really go all day and into the night.”

But the time to sell was now, said Mr Federowsky.

“As you get older your lifestyle changes a bit,” he said.

“Now with just the two of us it’s too big. “Somebody can now enjoy the lifestyle of the rich and famous.”

Alex Phillis and Jun Yang of Phillis Real Estate, is marketing the property via expressions of interest.

“This property has definitely got that wow factor and this pocket of Clear Island Waters has become very popular with families,” he said.

“Those views over the lake and the Surfers Paradise backdrop is just sensational.”
