Must Have Tools That Make Your Move Easier

There are so many responsibilities to take care of when moving. Coordinating with the moving company staff gets immensely tiring, lugging all the boxes around, buying new furniture and clothes, working out what to do with your old stuff, and spending money on the different tasks. It is also emotionally taxing to leave behind the home you set up and lived in for a long time.

Moving requires involving many people in the process and investing a lot of time and energy. Some of the tasks may be quite difficult, requiring you to keep calm while working towards an effective solution. This is where a few effective tools come in handy to make your move easy. Below is a list of the essential tools for your move. We also discuss how they will be beneficial to use during your move.

    1. Screwdriver

When moving day comes, a screwdriver is one of the most useful tools in your toolbox. If you are working with cabinets or wood frames, screwdrivers are especially useful. You will be able to complete your projects more quickly by using electric screwdrivers instead of manual ones requiring a lot more strength. In this scenario, cordless screwdrivers are convenient as you won’t have to worry about minding the wiring while working or finding a power source right next to your project.

    2. Tape

Duct tape and packing tape are a must when moving to a new house. You will need to pack your items up in boxes and move them to the new house, and both these tapes can be used to secure the boxes before they are moved. Once you have moved to the new house, you can also use duct tape to repair any things you feel need an instant fix.

    3. Electric Drill

Having an electric drill during moving can allow you to perform many tasks such as hanging pictures on the wall, installing curtains and shelves, nailing drywall down, making holes for electrical wiring, or mounting a TV to the wall. An electric drill makes your work more accurate, fast and easily completed. Do be sure to collect an electric drill before you move. The cordless ones provide more reach and comfort, making it easier to drill holes on surfaces.

    4. Scissors

Moving means packing things up in boxes and packages to send to the new home. So while packing and taping them up, you will require scissors to cut the tape while taping the boxes shut. Similarly, a pair of scissors will come in handy when unpacking in your new home while cutting open the boxes or opening new packages.

    5. Box Cutter

Having scissors is excellent, but a box cutter can make your life so much easier during and after the move. Box cutters allow for a lot of precision, so you can cut the tape and open boxes quickly and efficiently without damaging any of the moving boxes or the items inside.

6. Laser Level

Hand-held laser levels can be bought for around $20. You can use these tools when hanging art or pictures on the wall. You can also perform other alignment and leveling tasks with them. For example, hanging a bookshelf on a wall, you can ensure the shelves are perfectly in alignment when you use a laser level.

7. Stud Finder

To hang our items safely on the wall, be it a heavy art or a TV, you will need to find a stud in the wall. The good news is that you can now easily find stud finder tools in the market, and they are very easy to use. Using a stud finder, you will be able to find studs behind your house’s drywall effortlessly.

8. Step Ladder

On moving day, you must have a step tool or a foldable step ladder. You will need to be doing a lot of putting things away after moving into your new house, some of these will be in high places, such as shelves and cabinets. A step ladder will provide you with the ease and comfort to reach high places safely. A step ladder also comes in handy when hanging curtains and artwork.

9. Hammer

Filing down fixtures is very common after moving in, hence the urgent need for a hammer. So, make sure you have a hammer in your tools list when you are moving. It isn’t likely that you will need anything fancy, just a basic claw hammer will suffice when you need to drive screws and nails through furniture and walls.

10. Tape Measure

When you move, you may have to measure doorways, rugs, furniture, curtains, and so much more to see how it will all go in your new home. And for all this, you will need a tape measure, making it an essential tool when moving. When picking, take one at least 12 feet long and durable enough.

11. Furniture Sliders

Its common to have to move or adjust the heavy furniture in your home while moving. After the movers have left, you may want to move or rearrange the furniture once more. This is where you really need furniture sliders. By attaching them to the feet of the furniture, your protecting your floors from getting scratches and you will also be able to move the heavy furniture a lot more easily.

12. Touch Up Paint And Paint Brush

You might feel like touching up the walls of your new home before moving into it. Get a can of paint that matches the walls of the new house and be sure to keep a paintbrush in hand so you don’t have to call for help when you decide to paint it up. Be sure to check beforehand to see if any other things need to be fixed before you move in.
