Consortium Unveils Queen’s Wharf Tallest Tower

The tallest tower of the $3.6-billion Queen’s Wharf development in Brisbane has been revealed.

The 71-storey, 819-apartment building, Queen’s Wharf Tower, is the fifth tower in Destination Brisbane Consortium’s integrated project.

The tower designed by Cottee Parker will sit on the corner of Margaret and William streets.

The Queen’s Wharf Brisbane project also includes four hotels, nine heritage buildings, extensive retail and 7.5ha of public space along the Brisbane River.

One of the main feature of the development is the Star Grand Hotel, next to the 1 William Street building. Behind it are the residential towers—two more are planned to be built after Queen’s Wharf Tower is completed.

Multiplex was awarded the $1.5-billion construction contract for the project in 2019 by Destination Brisbane Consortium, a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group along with its Hong Kong-based partners, Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium.

YPM Group sales director Chris Hinds said they expected the tallest tower in Queen’s Wharf Brisbane to follow the success of the first residential building in the development.

“Queen’s Wharf Residences was the fastest-selling residential project in Queensland after attracting an unprecedented level of local buyer interest and selling 75 per cent of the 667 apartments within two months,” Hinds said.

“Prices for the mix of one-, two-, and three-bedrooms units start from $585,000 and go up to $3.5 million with limited executive penthouse apartments on the top floor from $6.4 million.”

Destination Brisbane Consortium project director Simon Crooks said the project would start opening in the first half of next year.

“With the main integrated resort reaching level 20 in parts, construction has spilled into the public space areas and heritage buildings, many of which will become the locals’ favourite new dining spots,” Crooks said.

“The nine heritage buildings, dated back to the 1800s, are being carefully restored and transformed into new shopping outlets, restaurants and bars as well as spaces for events, entertainment and performance.

“Further to that, sections of the Sky Deck will be installed mid-year as we start to form up Brisbane’s newest and hottest venue in town come 2023.”

The Brisbane market is expected to outperform other capital cities this year with interest in the Olympics driving prices further in the future.
