The secret behind Block fan favourites Jess and Ayden Hogan’s spectacular sale of their Gold Coast property has been revealed.
The property sold for an eye-watering $1.9 million in just five days following a whirlwind campaign which attracted a whopping 28 offers.
The sale was $300,000 above the asking price.
The property, designed by Jayson Pate and completed with the winnings from the Hogans’ appearance on the Channel 9’s hit renovation series, is located in Maudsland, a semi rural area in the northern part of the Gold Coast.
It features 6m-high ceilings, thick marble benchtops, hardwood floors, and a honed brick fireplace as well as a concrete pool and spa.
Nathan Simon from All Properties Group who marketed the property told news.com.au Market Buy was key to the increased sale price.
The online platform allows buyers to place an offer, as well as monitor offers by other interested buys.
“We had 10 registered buyers with a total of 28 offers made throughout the four day process that is an average of almost three offers per buyer as they fought to be the top bidder,” Mr Simon explained.
“It allowed us to provide a price to buyers, unlike the Qld auction system and simplified the multiple offers scenario.”
CEO of Market Buy John Hellaby told news.com.au that the platform was set up in 2015 “by an agent frustrated with the cloak and dagger approach in the traditional offer process – ‘Submit your best and final offer’”.
“The traditional process often lacks real-time communication and transparency and this often results in them missing out on fair and equal opportunity to secure their new home,” he said.
He describes Market Buy as the future of the property market.
“Traditionally the buyers and sellers have been in the dark and we now live in a world where communication is often instant, information readily available and we can purchase everything from our mobile phones – our data shows that buyers want to make offers on property the same way.”
He pointed out that most offers are made on Market Buy during the evening commute home between 4pm and 7pm than at any other time.
The Hogan’ were fan favourites on The Block after appearing on Season 10, titled The Block: Triple Threat, back in 2015 and winning $665,000.
They won the hit show after transforming a townhouse in Melbourne’s South Yarra that later sold for $2 million.
They married in 2008 and share two kids together, Josie and Thomas.
The couple bought the land prior to their appearance on the Block according to realestate.com.au and planned a basic home but decided to build a one-of-a-kind house after their success on the TV show.
