Matt Powe reckons he’s the luckiest real estate agent in the country, working for a world-renowned broker in a thriving beachside market.
He is part of the team at Sotheby’s International Realty, which opened a branch at glitzy Noosa Heads in December.
The luxury real estate brand, founded by famous fine arts dealers Sotheby’s, has about 1000 offices around the world, with six of them in Queensland.
Mr Powe said Sotheby’s provided Noosa homeowners with widespread exposure, connecting them to a high calibre of buyers from around the world.
“Connecting the sale of a Noosa property with Sotheby’s International Realty creates a true point of difference by enabling sellers to reach a highly global clientele and buyers to gain access to remarkable and unique properties,” he said via a media release.
Mr Powe said the region was a genuine hot spot.
“Noosa’s real estate market is soaring, propelled by mega property deals that have hit astronomical figures,” he said.
“In the past six months, 10 homes have sold for figures ranging from $6 million to $27 million – a trend defying nationwide declines and showcasing the demand in this beautiful part of Australia is as strong as ever.”
The agency pointed to figures from propertyvalue.com, which showed that Noosa has held one of Australia’s highest-value markets, with the price of homes rising more than 25 per cent during the past year, more than 20.7 per cent above the national average.
“As more buyers continue to prioritise lifestyle during their home search, the Noosa area has quickly become a highly sought-after second-home market,” Mr Powe said.
“We’re also seeing an increased interest from New Zealand and Asia Pacific ex-pats and high net worth individuals from all over.”
Mr Powe has more than 20 years of experience in real estate, selling penthouses, islands, high-end apartments and waterfront homes.
“To live and work in Noosa and be helping others do the same makes me one of the luckiest agents in Australia,” he said.
The Noosa office currently holds 28 listings, with a total asking value of about $80 million.
Among them is a stunning mountainside residence, which was billed as one of the best homes on Australia’s east coast.
Queensland Sotheby’s, led by CEO Paul Arthur, has branches in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Port Douglas, the Whitsundays and Noosa.
Mr Arthur said in December that Sotheby’s and Noosa were a perfect fit.
“My aspiration was to bring one of the most revered brands to the Noosa clientele,” he said via a statement.
“It’s such an international region, that the national and global essence of the Sotheby’s network will be welcomed as a true point of difference.”
Mr Arthur told Sunshine Coast News on Monday that the Noosa office has had 12 sales, with another couple currently under contract. He said the average sales price was about $2 million.
Mr Arthur has assembled a team of 12, with new agents onboarded the coming weeks, including one of Sotheby’s New Zealand’s highest-performing agents.
