A castle-like home forged by a renowned stonemason is under new reign.
The grand European-inspired residence at 55 Foley Road at Tanawha was sold to a couple for $4.15 million.
The 1.03ha property, which backs on to the Maroochy Regional Bushland Gardens, has been dubbed one of the most unusual and impressive homes in the region.
‘La Tourelle’ boasts eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and six car spaces.
But it’s the expertly crafted sandstone, granite, marble and rare white quartz that catches attention.
The four-storey home was built over five years, by master stonemason Angel Buj-Casanoves, who also created the renowned sculptures in the Maroochy Gardens nearby.
HOME – Sunshine Coast property professional Rebecca Fletcher said it was unique to the region.
“It’s pretty special. You won’t find anything else like it,” she said.
“It has a level of detail that makes you go ‘wow’. It’s very different.
“It’s huge and it is one of the most solid homes I’ve been in.”
‘La Tourelle’, which means ‘The Little Tower’ in French, boasts its own turret with stunning views.
It has a spacious living room with fireplace, internal staircase, travertine marble floors, French doors and raked ceilings with chandeliers.
The property includes a two-bedroom self-contained residence, to cater for extended family or guests.
There are Mediterranean-influenced balconies and outdoor entertainment areas, including an alfresco kitchen with wood-fired pizza oven.
There is also a four-lane 12m lap pool and landscaped lawns and gardens, plus water storage tanks for 90,000 litres.
Its most recent owners were four generations of a family, including a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and daughter.
They’re moving closer to the beach, which has paved the way for a couple involved in the medical field to buy the property.
“They (the couple) weren’t even looking to buy but they saw photos of it in the My Weekly Preview magazine and thought they’d take a closer look at it,” Ms Fletcher said.
“They fell in love with the property.”
