Gold Coast house brims with mid-century modern vibes

IT’S bold, striking and attention-grabbing.

Welcome to Allambi House.

Eddie and Perri Beith are the brains behind the four-bedroom showstopper in Broadbeach Waters that pushes design boundaries with its mid-century modern vibe.

Mr Beith, a builder with his own construction business, and Mrs Beith, who runs a renovating and design consultancy, combined their skills to ensure their 18th home renovation was far from ordinary.

The pair were renowned for their work but decided they wanted a new challenge.

“Eddie suggested mid-century so I started researching what it actually meant,” Mrs Beith said.

“I honestly fell in love with the style, with its patterns, colours and functional layouts.

“I felt like it was a huge risk because we had never pulled it off before.”

The couple bought the Florida Gardens block in March, 2022, before starting work on the renovation in June. They demolished the existing house, keeping just the concrete slab for Allambi House.

“It was a pretty straightforward build,” Mrs Beith said.

“Prices were going up but they were all for things we couldn’t avoid using. We just had to accept it would cost more than we imagined.”

The build was completed in November with the couple perfecting the space ever since.

The end result is nothing short of extraordinary — the meticulous attention to detail evident as soon as you step onto the property.

The design, with its flamboyant finishes and retro charm, takes you on a dazzling journey through the ages to a time when architecture was celebrated as art.

One of the couple’s favourite features is the sunken lounge with banquet-style seating, plush shag pile carpet and stacked stone feature wall. “We have always wanted to do a sunken lounge,” Mrs Beith said. “It’s so cosy in there and we love siting in there when we have friends over.”

The kitchen and dining area features imported chequered tiling, a 4m raked ceiling and Verde Cotto granite finishes while integrated appliances create a seamless space.

“I love cooking and having people over so it’s super easy to work in,” Mrs Beith said.

This area leads to an outside entertaining area, in-built barbecue, pizza oven and the pool and spa that sits alongside the house.

“The funky green tiles just make it and we use the spa almost every day,” Mrs Beith said. “When you’re sitting in there you can’t hear a noise and with the gardens all around you don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the Gold Coast.”

A gallery-style hallway with full-height glass overlooks the backyard while an elevated lounge room opens to the front garden and decking.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe with custom cabinetry and luxurious ensuite with custom stone vanity and fluted glass panels.

Other features include two office areas, a fully-tiled bath in the main bathroom, intercom, keyless entry and security alarm.

Allambi House at 54 Allambi Ave is going to auction on May 28 through White Burleigh Group’s Conner Malan and Daniel Donovan, and Belle Maison Realty’s Trevor Groves.
