Speed star Steven Bradbury sells King Beach investment apartment

Olympic gold medalist Steven Bradbury has offloaded his beachside Queensland investment apartment.

The speed skater listed the luxurious, four-bedroom ground floor address in Kings Beach, a coastal suburb of Caloundra, in mid-May this year.

It was maintained as weekender and a rental, asking $660 a week in recent years.

A four-time Olympian, Bradbury rocketed to cult status for the winning 1000-metre speed race at the 2022 Salt Lake City after his rivals collided and fell in the final seconds.

The blunder cleared the way for Bradbury to glide first over the finish line, and gave rise to the phrase “doing a Bradbury” for winning as an underdog.

His apartment was sold on August 16, after eleven years of ownership and three months on the market. The price was undisclosed.

The original $2 million asking price was later revised to $1.8 million by agent Danelle Wiseman and Jonathan Pattinson of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The apartment is held in the name Bradbury’s investment company, according to Pricefinder, which forked out $855,000 for large pad, over 111 square metres, with two courtyards, in 2011.

His company owns two other properties in rural Queensland, which were purchased in 2014, Pricefinder records show.
