Little ones wanting to learn how to dance in North Tivoli might be in luck, with an Ipswich real estate agency submitting a development application to build a new recreation facility.
The proposal by Cooper Property Group is for a complex that would include a gym, dance studio and a cafe at 170 Mount Crosby Road.
A planning report by Scott Clarke from Precinct Urban Planning on behalf of the group proposes the gym would operate Monday to Sunday from 6.30am to 10pm with two to three staff, and the dance studio will operate Monday to Saturday, with four staff.
The dance studio is expected to run multiple hour-long classes for children aged 6 to 15 throughout Monday to Friday, and classes for children aged two to five on Saturdays – with class sizes of approximately 10 children.
The cafe would operate Monday to Sunday from 6.30am to 5pm with two staff, and it is expected to primarily serve patrons of the other two facilities.
The planning report said the proposed development will provide job opportunities and contribute to the existing area by diversifying the services available to nearby residents and the employees of surrounding industrial businesses.
“On the basis of the nearby businesses, school and residential area, it is considered that the proposed uses cater for a compatible mix in the locality,” it said.
The application is currently awaiting Ipswich City Council approval.
