‘Magical’ home with glass garage listed in Sunshine Coast hinterland

There are a few features a buyer will only ever find in a super-luxe listing.

Portes-cochères (a fancy name for a carport) and colonnades (columns on the verandah), for example.

Another is a glass garage, so the owner can admire their prestige car collection, and a swish new listing in Queensland has a smashingly good example.

The four-bedroom home at 148 Solar Road, Cooroy Mountain, is billed as a “hinterland homestead” on eight hectares.

Full-height windows take advantage of the position, and the generous use of shimmering glass is extended beyond the living zones and bedroom to the garage.

The home has two garages – one traditional, another a “showroom garage”. This upmarket garage has a glass wall facing the hallway, so on the way to the media room or main bedroom, the owner passes by the the ultimate display of greased lightening.

The media room has a glass wall as well, to look into the garage. “You can soak up the impact of surround-sound acoustics and big screen optics while stealing a glimpse across at the classic cars…” the Jackson Jones listing says.

A study is tucked off the showroom garage.

The property, built two years ago, features a deep hillside terrace, an elevated lawn and a 15-metre swimming pool.

The design works with the slope of the land and the vistas – case in point, the cantilevered bedroom that hovers over the green landscape.

The living room is sunken, the listing explains, to add “dimension to the home’s central living space” and so the peak of the mountain is visible from a snuggly spot on the couch.

The main bedroom has a picture window and an outdoor shower to admire the views from the state nature intended.

The home is for sale by private negotiation through Jackson Jones Sunshine Coast agents Noel Jackson and Kate Jackson, seeking offers around the $11 million mark.

“It is actually incredibly hard to describe the sense of tranquility when you are standing on that deck – you are at the foot of the mountains but elevated,” Ms Jackson said.

“The feeling is that you could be the only person in the world, because it is so private. And the mountain is awe-inspiring – an enormous geological feature within your backyard.

“It is a beautiful piece of land. The owners say at the times there are stags that wander in from the forest. It’s a magical place to be.”
