With two heritage buildings at its heart, West Village is halfway through transforming a 2.6-hectare site in West End’s Boundary Street precinct, into an exciting community hub full of character.
Forming part of Sekisui House Australia’s masterplanned precinct, West Village, Altura is the latest residential offering to hit Brisbane’s West End.
The development features a mix of residential apartments, retail outlets, community places and open public spaces.
West End is tied as the sixth most walkable neighbourhood in Brisbane, boasting a walk score of 88, along with the blue-chip suburbs of Teneriffe and New Farm. West Village boasts a premium walk score of 99, making it one of the most desirable places to live in West End.

Urban has had a look at what’s in store for residents within waking distance from Altura, which has just commenced construction.
1. Heritage Village
Surrounding the future 22-storey wellness apartments is a community steeped in rich history.
The 2.6 hectare precinct features the heritage-listed former Peters Ice Cream & Cone factories at the centre of the village.
“Just like the character filled heritage Peters Ice Cream and Cone Factories, community is at the heart of this ever-growing village,” Sekisui House note.
From the annual Brisbane Ice Cream Festival, to pizza and pinot evenings, gardening workshops and fashion events; the village is always abuzz.
2. Commercial and Retail
Not only has West Village added to the industrial West End site by delivering new residences, but also features numerous shopping and commercial offerings that have created a new destination for Brisbane.
On completion, the masterplan will deliver around 14,000 sqm of retail and 20,000 sqm commercial area. Earlier in the year, West Village welcomed Harris Farm Markets, Woolworths, and a number of boutique dining, retail and medical services.
There is also a 450-space car park and space for markets and festivals.
Located less than 800 metres from the Brisbane CBD, future Altura residents will benefit from being close by the employment hub of Queensland and can glide into the CBD with ease via bus, ferry, car or bike.
3. Restaurants, Bars, and Live Entertainment
Reflecting West End’s eclectic charm, a number of shops and restaurants are within just 10 metres of Altura, to match the lively lifestyle of its residents.
In addition to West Village’s onsite restaurants and entertainment options, Altura is located just 650 metres from the Melbourne street food precinct and just 750 metres from the Fish Lane restaurant precinct.
The vibrant dining scene of Boundary and Vulture Streets offers everything from ramen to risotto, the best coffee spots and organic markets.
The precinct also comes to life in the afternoon and evenings with local bistros, cocktail and wine bars providing the perfect place to socialise, relax and unwind.
4. Open Parklands
West Village boasts generous green, open spaces, including Mollison Park and The Common.
The Common also allows the Peters Ice Cream Factory to be seen from street view, adding to the West End streetscapes.
Around 100 mature trees and more than 10,000 plants are growing at West Village.
The spaces add to existing parklands at the nearby Musgrave, Davies and Orleigh Parks, which feature riverside walking paths, cycling trails, community gardens and picnic tables.
5. Schools and Universities
The suburb of West End features a variety of educational offerings for all ages.
Both public and private education options are available, including the popular West End State Primary School only 700-metres away and the esteemed Somerville House School for Girls also close by.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Southbank Campus, Griffith University Southbank Campus and Queensland University of Technology are all within equally close proximity to the development.
6. Other Neighbourhood Amenities
West End already has a number of established amenity within touching distance for future Altura residents.
From the vibrant dining precinct of Boundary and Vulture Streets to the arts and culture of nearby South Bank, Brisbane has it all.
On the other side of the river, South Bank includes cinemas, restaurants and trendy bars, while museums, art galleries and libraries are also nearby.
Eleven hospitals are within seven kilometres of the West Village precinct, including private, public and children’s speciality.
Limited residences remain in Altura.
