Comedian on hunt for a dream home on the Sunny Coast

COMEDIAN Nikki Osborne and her family are on the hunt for a home on the Sunshine Coast after leaving Victoria to start a new life in Queensland.

Osborne, husband Jeremy, and kids, Will and Teddy, fled the southern state last year after becoming fed up with lockdown restrictions and have been renting in Mooloolaba while they look to buy a place.

The ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ star, who is still renting out her Mornington Peninsula property, is torn between finding a home in Buderim or splurging on a house by the water.

“We’re torn,” she said. “Do we close the door on Victoria and buy our dream home up here or do we try and hold on to it and buy a more modest home up here in Buderim?

“If it’s our dream home, we’ll spend around $1.5 million to get something really nice.”

Osborne said she had found the competition in the market tough, but had been told by local agents that activity had slowed down.

The latest figures from SQM Research suggest otherwise, with the number of property listings on the Sunshine Coast remaining critically low while other locations around the nation experience an increase in new homes hitting the market.

According to SQM Research data, the total number of property listings on the Sunshine Coast hit a decade-low in November last year but has fallen another 22 per cent since then to a new low of just 5978 listings in April.

In the meantime, Ms Osborne said she and her family were loving living in the Sunshine State because of the quality of life.

“Without sounding ghetto, the kids are out on the street playing until the streetlights come on here!”
